The 5th International Satellite Navigation Forum

The 5th International Satellite Navigation Forum represents the central event of year in the field of social and commercial use of satellite navigation technologies and, first of all, the Russian satellite navigation system GLONASS.

The main purpose of the Forum is to inform a wide Russian and foreign audience on the state and plans of the development of satellite navigation systems, on the national policy in the field of the use of the system GLONASS in Russia, innovative technologies, the newest equipment of satellite navigation and services, the international experience of the use of navigation systems, the creation of unified international standards in satellite navigation.

This year the Forum celebrates its five years' anniversary.
The organizers of the event hope, that the program of the Forum 2011 will be the most comprehensive and interesting of all the previous years and will cover all directions of the use of satellite navigation systems in the economy of Russia. There will be a special section devoted to the fundamentals of satellite navigation, principles of building and operating of the global satellite systems GPS and GLONASS, regional satellite navigation systems and issues of enhancing the efficiency of their use, and will be interesting for both the experts in this field, and broad audience interested in navigation.

Individual sections on building the system of emergency response to failures of “ERA-GLONASS” and using satellite navigation in transport of various types are planned. More than 100 speakers from Russia, CIS and non-CIS states, representatives of ministries and departments, private companies, and foreign and international organizations will take part in the Forum. According to the decision of the organizing committee, the registration of applications for participating and speaking has opened. We draw your attention that the reports are considered and approved by the organizing committee of the Forum on a competitive basis.

More than 100 speakers from Russia, CIS and non-CIS states, representatives of ministries and departments, private companies, and foreign and international organizations will take part in the Forum.

According to the decision of the organizing committee, the registration of applications for participating and speaking has opened. We draw your attention that the reports are considered and approved by the organizing committee of the Forum on a competitive basis.

The organizing committee has also been considering applications from companies looking to be sponsors of the Forum.

E1 and E5 Galileo IOV Signals: Report from U. Calgary
This article gives a brief overview of the acquisition and tracking of Galileo IOV signals received from the GSAT0101 satellite on the morning of December 15. Researchers in the PLAN Group successfully recorded E1 and E5 data using a single dual-channel front-end and subsequently acquired and tracked E1 B/C, E5a and E5b signals using the PLAN Group GSNRx software GNSS receiver.


Spirent Launches Data Sets of World City Environments to Facilitate GPS and GLONASS Receiver Testing
Spirent Communications today announced the launch of a data set subscription service for its GSS6400 GNSS Record and Playback test System. The data sets comprise live GNSS (GPS, GLONASS and QZSS) environmental capture data set samples, recorded at major locations worldwide, in challenging urban and suburban conditions.


TeleNav Unveils Browser-based HTML5 Navigation
Mobile navigation software provider TeleNav on Wednesday announced the upcoming availability of its service on browser via an HTML5 implementation. The promise of TeleNav is that developers will only have to add a one line of code to their website or application to enable a full turn by turn navigation experience.


GNSS 2012 Call For Papers
Abstract submissions are now being accepted for the Institute of Navigation's (ION) GNSS 2012, the 25th International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division. The conference will take place 17th to 21st September 2012 with tutorials on 17th and 18th September at the Nashville Convention Center, Nashville, USA.
